Lynn Mehta
Lynn Mehta is an oil painter who is inspired by the colors of the landscape and by outdoor light much in the manner of the Impressionists of the last century who took their paints outside. As she explores the opportunities of traditional oil paints, she evokes emotion through expressive brushwork and color, often pushing the boundaries of representational art. Born and raised in La Jolla, California, she now lives in Alexandria, Virginia. She holds a BA in Art with an emphasis in Environmental Design from San Diego State University and has studied with internationally acclaimed artists here and abroad.
Mehta has received numerous honors and awards in juried shows and plein air competitions. Recent plein air awards include Third Place in Piedmont Plein Aire 2014, Second Place at Paint Annapolis 2014, the Artists’ Choice Award at Paint Snow Hill 2014, and Best Rural Landscape Award at Easels in Frederick 2013. Her paintings are included in private collections in the United States and Europe. Her memberships include the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, Women Painters of the Southeast, Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, California Art Club, and the Salmagundi Club in New York City
