Vince Lupo Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is hosting free opening receptions for exhibitions in their galleries and for their artists in residence Thursday, Jan 15 from 5:30 – 7 pm. cl, Patrice and Lorraine are artists-in-residence at MHCA and will be hosting open studios on the third floor. Vince will have an exhibition of photography in the Balcony Gallery that will run from Jan 12 – Feb 21. MFA Member: Mary Ellen Geissenhainer Mary Ellen has three pieces accepted into the colored-pencil artwork show exhibiting at the Barry Gallery at the Reinsch Library at Marymount University through March 5. The reception will be on Friday, January 16th from 6-8 p.m. MFA Member: Anne Buffington

Anne N Buffington will be doing a one man show at the All Hallows Parish House, January 25th through February 8th.   Opening reception will be on January 25th from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the Parish House. The show can be viewed from 12:00 – 2:00, daily.
All Hallows is located at: 3604 Solomon’s Island Road, Edgewater.

MFA Member: Keith Wilkie Keith Wilkie’s solo show “Coastal Therapy” will include 27 of his 2014 paintings of coastal scenes at Gallery Underground in Crystal City, VA, February 2-February 28, 2015 with an opening reception on Friday February 6th from 5pm to 8pm.

MFA Member: Kari Melen: Kari is participating in her third “30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge” alongside 1,200 other artists and conducted by California artist, Leslie Saeta. Her theme for this challenge is Comfort and Joy.   MFA Members: Heather Jacks, Sarna Marcus and Alex Tolstoy Heather Jacks, Sarna Marcus and Alex Tolstoy are part of an exhibition of new work at The Foundry Gallery, 1314 18th Street NW, Washington DC. The exhibit runs from December 31 to February 1.

MFA Member: Wil Scott Wil Scott’s photograph was one of only 18 photographs on the theme of “Contemplation” accepted for exhibition at PH21 Gallery in Budapest, Hungary.       Member: Carole Falk Falk A painting by Carole Falk, Stage Presence, was selected for the permanent art collection of Sallie Mae’s corporate headquarters in Delaware.     MFA Member: Richard Weiblinger Richard Paul Weiblinger was selected to be included in the Washington Artworks “White” Juried Exhibition at the Washington Artworks Gallery in Rockville, MD January 2 thru January 31, 2015. CanadaIn addition, he was selected to be included in the 24th Annual Strathmore Artists Juried Exhibition “What’s On Your Mind” at the Strathmore Mansion Gallery January 10 thru March 1, 2015.       MFA Member: Kate Stillwell and Jennifer Wilkinson Rynbrandt The Artist of the Month exhibit will run at Paul’s Homewood Cafe until February 1.

MFA Member: Joe Dickey Joe Dickey is holding a solo show titled “If Wood Could Sing,” at the Watergate Gallery, 2552 Virginia Ave NW, Washington, DC. The show runs thru Jan. 17, 2015. Cephei                 MFA Member: April Rimpo Rimpo’s painting “Student Brushes” is included in the The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society 35th Anniversary International Juried Exhibition at The State Museum of Pennsylvania, which runs through February 8, 2015. April Rimpo is participating in her first 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge by Leslie Saeta.  You can see all of April’s Challenge paintings at http://aprilrimpo.blogspot.com/search/label/30%20DAY%20CHALLENGE . She is doing several series as part of the Challenge, each of which results in a multi-panel painting.  Below is one example called Inspiration.

ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES The Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s is hosting a juried exhibition for artists throughout Anne Arundel County titled “Image and Imagination”. For more info click here. The Banner Art Project is a collaborative project looking to adorn the light poles of downtown Manassas, Virginia. Up to 50 artists will be selected and the top prize is $1000. The deadline is January 15, 2015. For more information, click here. Mount Gretna Outdoor Art Show is looking for 260 fine artists and craft persons for the Pennsylvania event for the weekend of August 15 and 16th. The jury fee is $25 and booth fees range from $360-$720. There are $2500 in cash awards and the deadline for submission is April 1, 2015. For more info on submission click here.
