This week’s featured artist: Megan George, MFA intern since 2014:
ME: I was born in Baltimore and have lived in the Annapolis area most of my life. I am currently a senior at Broadneck High School and plan to attend college, most likely in either New York or San Francisco next fall. I will study arts and art history in college but I’m still undecided as to what my major will be.
MY ART: I’ve been interested in art my whole life, with most of my family dinner discussions being about either music or film. I’ve also always had an interest in fashion but my most common focus and medium is photography. I’ve been studying photography since my sophomore year, and I work in both digital and film. I currently spend most of my time working on my AP 2D design portfolio which I will submit in April. I joke that I focus on photography because I don’t have the patience for any other medium but this project has surely been improving that impatience!
MFA & ME: I found the MFA Circle Gallery on one of my summer days spent strolling around Annapolis with friends. My mom was the one to later suggest I approach them about an internship. This past September I began spending a few hours a week working at the gallery with Mia and Joann. I’ve learned a lot in the past few months and am very grateful for being a part of the MFA at both the Circle and Holiday galleries.
Spread the word about…YOU: Every week, we feature an MFA member for “Me & My Art Monday.” If you would like to be featured, please submit a photo and three paragraphs: one each about YOU, YOUR ART, and MFA & YOU totaling approximately 350 words, to meandmyart@mdfedart.org.
