Lauren Anthone’s artwork selected for Hospice Cup Poster 2015

By January 29, 2015 Call to Artists, MFA

For the 5th year running, MFA has hosted the Hospice Cup Poster Competition in the Holley Gallery. Hospice Cup is a charity sailing regatta, raising funds for hospice programs throughout Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia.

Every year, they select a painting to be the featured artwork on the promotional poster. The chosen work is donated to the Hospice organization, and the artist has a fantastic item for their resume… and of course a really good feeling for donating to such a worthy cause.

This year, 15 artists vied for the honor to have their work selected – the largest selection to date! We announced the opportunity to participate in this competition through the MFA Blog and general email several weeks out to generate interest. A lively reception last Friday evening at Circle Gallery involved about a hundred people voting for their favorite painting. In the end there was a 3-way tie, requiring a rapid second round of run-off voting.

Congratulations to winning artist Lauren Anthone. This colorful, emblematic painting will be eye-catching and sure to get the attention of potential donors to this fabulous cause.

MFA is proud and honored to support the Hospice Cup. We look forward to it every year!
