MFA’s Virtual Artist in Residence:

I know you’re asking: What is a Virtual Artist in Residence (VAIR)?

MFA sponsors an artist working directly from their own studio! Our featured artist will be working on a project related to an MFA exhibition that will open for entry towards the end of their six-month residency. This program will create a direct connection between the artist and you through a series of videos, live chats, panel discussions and weekly social media posts about their progress and how they manage all of their art commitments. There will even be an online workshop with the VAIR!

We are excited to present assemblage artist Nichole Leavy as our inaugural VAIR! Nichole is a full-time artist who has a busy schedule of art projects and commitments, and we are honored that she will be representing MFA on this journey. She’s moving into a new studio, so you might pick up – and share – some studio set up tips!

Art Journey Labs: Art for Art Business for Artists, and Art for Art Lovers

We’re introducing an entire schedule of in-person forums by pairing with community experts to help guide artists on their path, and to help art lovers de-mystify the art collecting and appreciation experience. These labs will include topics for artists about how to manage their finances; how to present their work in a professional way that is also affordable, to name just a few. For art lovers, we will answer the questions that people are often afraid to ask, such as: How do I know this artwork is good? Where do I put it in my house? Why are some artworks inexpensive and others feel out of reach?
