Learn from Paint Annapolis Juried Artist John T. Eiseman! With decades of experience as a professional artist and a long track record of plein air events under his belt, award-winning painter John T. Eiseman will teach you to translate observation into expressive mark-making, value, and color – and ultimately to tell your own unique visual story. 

Whether you’re stepping into plein for the first time or looking to deepen your practice, this workshop is designed to nurture your skills and creative vision under the guidance of a seasoned, celebrated artist. 

An experienced and award-winning plein air artist, Eiseman is known for layering his luminous oil paintings with acrylic underpaintings, and a masterful technique of creating depth in land and water scenes, capturing sparkling light. Workshop attendees will get guidance on how to truly look at and translate observation into application with personalized instruction!

what to bring?

Bring your own plein-air setup – easel, canvases, media of your choice – and TWO painting surfaces.

Artists are also recommended to bring a hat, water, paper towels, q-tips, sunscreen, bug spray, and whatever else you need to be comfortable outside for a gorgeous day of painting.

With decades of experience as a professional artist and a long track record of plein-air events under his belt, award-winning painter John T. Eiseman is the ideal mentor to guide your artistic journey. 

John has been painting since his teens; he graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art (Magna Cum Laude, 1981) and his work has won numerous awards, as well as being accepted into major national exhibitions.
