About the Artist

Franz Fox,   MOUNTVILLE, PA

ARTIST STATEMENT My paintings focus on abstraction and a new body of work that I have been perfecting over my lifetime. I have coined this body of work Neoplasticity. It is in the movement of psychic automatism, which gives priority to the process, emphasizing impulse over premeditated composition. This involves the introduction of a main figural element as subject matter, painted with oils or acrylics, and fine detail added with pen and ink, creating a sense of shadow and movement, with hidden figures and symbols. My work is inspired by imagination, expression and feeling and is not a product of recreated reality.

ARTIST BIO Franz Fox was born on the island of Cuba under the Batista Regime. Born with creative juices in his blood and an island of color at his fingertips, Franz was introduced to the arts early on. Making their way to the United States just before the Cuban missile crisis, the forced move marked the first stop on a long list of family travels. Encouraged to never stop exploring different cultures and scenes, Fox went on to study painting in Paris, France and Malaga, Spain. His formal education is in architecture which gives him a unique mastery of perspective and spatiality.

REPRESENTATIONAL HISTORY In 2019, Franz was invited to be represented by Singulart Art Gallery, in Paris, France. Additionally, he is represented by the Gallery of Modern Masters in Lancaster, PA and Sedona, AZ. Franz is also represented by Gallery 104 in Chelsea, NY, NY, Fine Art Collector, in Boston, MA, and Sweet Art Gallery in Naples, FL.
