About the Artist

Wess Loudenslager,   memphis, TN

How does one define what it is to be human? What is it that makes a human being? Those are the prime questions that I’ve been answering since I began painting and sculpting in my mid-30’s. History, sociology and the human experience as it manifests itself through both “high” and “low” culture is the grist that I grind in my conceptual approach to object making. Because I bounce between history and sociology, appropriating imagery as I see fit, my visual approach bounces between realism, abstraction and non-objectivism according to my artistic needs.
