About the Artist

Jeff Wilson,   Washington, DC

My art is about the in between. That transitional segment. The part where the process is revealed. My goal has been to capture solely this singular segment of process on a larger scale and to make this the whole art. So, in terms of the melted lid projects the lids are art unto themselves in an Andy Warhol kind of way. Each lid is an industrial design product. As they are melted, they are reduced to their color and general shape. But, when there are elements left of the original design they are somewhere in between painting and industrial design and sculpture -- the lids are somewhere in the process of becoming a new entity. They are in transition to a new expression , but the shadow or impression of the former life still remains with some of the lids -- for a fleeting moment.
