About the Artist

Carol Donahue,   Kingwood, TX

I am an independent freelance photographer, third generation born in Washington, D.C. I lived in a rural Maryland community on the edge of the Chesapeake Bay enjoying the natural beauty and historic interest of Annapolis and D.C. until 2016. I now call Kingwood Texas home. I have studied photography at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts with photographer, Dick Bond. I also studied at Anne Arundel Community College with Fine Art Photographer Don Knessi. I was drawn to alternative processes where I was challenged to push the boundaries and find the approach to my vision. “Learn the rules then you can break them” he instructed.

I see intensity in the rhythms of the urban architectural environment. In the spaces there grows a balance, between stability and movement, much like a dance. I look for the transitions between the buildings and their relationship to the earth and the life in between. I am excited to capture the energy of life in these urban spaces that is implied as much as seen. It has been a great adventure and I have loved exploring new cities and communities.

I am a member of Maryland Federation of Art, Texas Photographic Society and Lake Houston Area Artists. My photography has been accepted into local and national shows and can be seen in private collections. I look forward to exhibiting new work after having attended a workshop in 2019, printing with Gold leaf, Variegated Copper Leaf, Palladium Leaf as well as other metals.
