About the Artist

Eva Barsin,   Arnold, MD

As a career graphic designer for 30+ years I happily found my way back to the world of fine art. I’m using my experience and foundational knowledge of color, composition and concept to explore different mediums and find great joy and empowerment in using acrylic paint. Its quick drying time allows me to build layers, creating depth and vibrancy on the canvas. I've been told that color is my superpower. I work to incorporate complementary colors and dramatic lighting to infuse my paintings with energy and excitement.

In addition to color and light, I am drawn to scenes and subjects that communicate strong moods or feelings; those that many recognize but I strive to present through my personal vision. I aim to offer new perspectives on familiar subjects, revealing their hidden beauty. My background as a designer has deeply influenced how I compose my paintings. Understanding the rules of composition and balance, like the rule of thirds, helps me frame scenes that engage viewers. I use grids to guide my work but am always willing to break conventions if it serves to emphasize a more important feature or emotion within the piece.

I am dedicated to continual learning and growth. I study and learn from other talented artists, grateful for their encouragement and generosity in sharing knowledge. I embrace the process fully, unafraid to create less successful paintings as essential steps in expanding my skills and expressing my artistic voice.
