A lifelong quiet dreamer, Eva Barsin grew up in Ohio in an environment that encouraged her natural inclination toward art. From an early age, she immersed herself in the fine arts, exploring a broad range of disciplines, techniques, and creative processes. Her artistic curiosity eventually led her to pursue a professional degree in the arts before relocating to Maryland, where she began a career in graphic design. Over the course of 35 years, Eva built a rewarding creative career, co-owning two successful design and advertising firms with her husband while raising their two sons. Though graphic design became her profession, her connection to fine art remained a constant undercurrent—something waiting patiently to be rediscovered. In 2024, Eva returned to the canvas. Purchasing a few tubes of acrylic paint was, in her words, an attempt to “brush away the cobwebs.” Instead, it reignited something she had never truly left behind. Since then, she has found herself immersed once again in the exhilarating process of painting. Drawing upon her longstanding understanding of color, composition, visual communication, and concept development, Eva approaches each work with both intuition and intention. She often begins by exploring imagery digitally, combining and manipulating photographs in Photoshop before translating those ideas onto canvas through layers of paint, texture, transparency, and gesture. The result is a practice that bridges her professional design background with the expressive possibilities of fine art. Her life in coastal Maryland has become an important source of inspiration. Surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, and a vibrant sailing community, Eva has become increasingly attuned to the visual poetry of boats, sails, rigging, water, sky, and wind. At the same time, her enduring fascination with flowers led her to notice an unexpected visual correspondence between two seemingly unrelated forms: the sail and the bloom.

This observation became the foundation for Breezy Blooms. The collection explores the quiet geometry shared by flowers and sailboats—the vertical strength of a stem and mast, the unfurling gesture of petals and sails, and the elegant lines created by leaves, rigging, curves, and tension. In Eva’s compositions, florals appear to rise, drift, and expand within the architecture of sails, creating a dialogue between organic forms and human ingenuity. Transparency and layered imagery introduce an atmospheric quality, evoking clouds, sunlight, and the sensation of a gentle coastal breeze. Against these ethereal passages, saturated florals emerge with unexpected vibrancy. The resulting tension between softness and strength, tranquility and movement, abstraction and recognizable form gives the work its distinctive visual character. Eva paints first and foremost from a desire to create what she finds beautiful. She has been moved by the discovery that her work can create an emotional connection with others.
