About the Artist

Brady Kim,   Cockeysville, MD

I am an acrylic pour artist that is using traditional techniques to create non-traditional pieces. I use a mixture of acrylic paint, floetrol, and water to adjust the fluidity of the pouring medium and various pouring instruments (just about every type of cup, strainer, or tube you can imagine) and other tools (knitting needles, cake rings, hairdryers, etc) to swipe, swirl, and create my paintings. For 95% of my work, the only brushes that touch my painting are the ones that I varnish. Everything else gets an epoxy resin finish on cradled wood panel.

The foundation of my pour painting knowledge comes from an online course put together by Mollys Artistry, Olga Soby, and Rinske Douna. But it's really a much broader community that is so generous with their knowledge and encouragement that fuels my creative spirit. People readily share their paint recipes and detailed instructional videos on their techniques. I reply back to every question on my posts because I've never asked one and not gotten a response. You have a built-in moral support network the second you share a painting.

I am not a professionally trained artist, but I just stayed at a Holiday Inn.
