About the Artist

Elizabeth Anne Kendall,   Deale, MD

Referencing remembered family stories and current experiences, Elizabeth creates works that are at once the frame for story and story in their own right. They are bricks and windows: responding to and defining space. The abstract forms meander and entwine allowing the eye or hand to explore space both within and around. They celebrate the interplay of opposites. Shadow cannot exist with out light. Volume requires line. Something has to have been present for its absence to be felt. Her work, both functional and sculptural, has been exhibited in national and international venues and is in the permanent collection of the Yixing Ceramics Museum, Peoples Republic of China; the International Ceramic Center in Denmark; Givat Haviva, Israel; the Sonny Kamm Collection; and the Petroleum Club in Midland, TX. She recently completed a major commission for the MGM Corporation at National Harbor.
