About the Artist

Stacey Perrine Sass,   Saint Michaels, MD

Stacey Sass finds that the medium of watercolor symbiotically unites the imagery and the aesthetics that speak to her; water, sea life and the effect of light on physical structures. Most of her paintings were created in "plein air", often from an anchored boat or from the grounds of a campsite. This allows the artist to experience the scene with all of her senses resulting in an application of paint that has an immediacy. Light changes quickly, thus brushstrokes need to applied fluidly and with purpose. Stacey taught high school art and art history for 30 years and continues to give private and group painting instruction as well as give art appreciation presentations to art organizations.
