About the Artist

Lissa Abrams,   Stevenson, MD

Painting is my passion. I tend to be a representational painter and focus on the human figure and the landscape. I paint, en plein air, in Baltimore City, throughout Maryland’s beautiful countryside, the coast, and at many other captivating locations across the country and beyond. I love being outdoors among nature whether it is capturing winter’s chill or summer’s full bounty. When painting, I enjoy portraying a moment in time, something that tells a story about a place or the people in it. Oil paints are my preferred medium. I use a combination of palette knife and brushwork to provide texture and vivid colors to my work. After I retired, from a career in Mental Health policy and administration, I jumped full steam ahead with art. I have taken many classes and workshops and continue to be mentored by Paul Moscatt, Professor Emeritus, Maryland Institute College of Art. In addition to being accepted into regional juried plein air competitions, I also participate in non- juried plein air events. My paintings have received multiple awards. Currently my work is exhibited at Gallery 322 in Frederick, Maryland where I am an associate member.
