About the Artist

Lee Goodwin,   Potomac, MD

I live and work in the Washington, DC area. For nearly twenty years, I have concentrated on landscape photography, primarily in Washington D.C. and nearby areas, including Great Falls, the C&O Canal, the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. Every time that I think I may have exhausted the photographic potential of these subjects, the weather will change, or the water will rise or fall, and a world of new images will open up.

My most recent project has been to photograph the countryside around the Chesapeake Bay, with particular emphasis on the places where land and water meet, and which are most vulnerable to rising sea levels due to the combined effects of land subsidence and climate change. Working on this “Endangered Landscape” series has brought together my passion for photography and my professional commitment to sustainability and the development of renewable energy. Photographs from this series are now on permanent display in the Maryland House of Delegates Office Building in Annapolis.
