Joanne Geisel

My love of painting and drawing began as a child. Always one of my favorite subjects, I pursued a degree in Art Education. I then followed careers in human services and higher education, and received a Masters in Public Administration, using my creative skills in program development, marketing and helping others with career and educational goals. When possible I devoted my time to painting, drawing or sculpting.Geisel_Joanne View of Marina Since 2006, I have pursued my dream of being an artist. I paint at every opportunity. I am on the faculty of The Cameron Art Museum School, Wilmington, NC, teach additional courses in Wilmington and conduct workshops for many organizations. My paintings have won numerous awards in juried shows and are held in personal and corporate collections.

My paintings can be found at City Art Gallery, Greenville, NC; Fine Art at Baxter’s Gallery, New Bern, NC; Spectrum Gallery, Wilmington, NC; Lantana’s Gallery, Southport, NC and Bald Head Island galleries.

Most of my paintings reflect a moment in time where the immediate impression captures my emotions and sense of design. I assess the composition, the values, the proportions and color, then I paint, all the while trying to maintain the initial feeling that drew me to paint the particular landscape, person or still life. Over time as I refine and work on various elements while trying tenaciously to keep its freshness.
